The Yeadon Public Library is located at 809 Longacre Boulevard. The library is a member of the Delaware County Library System. The library houses a collection of thousands of books including popular fiction and nonfiction reading materials for every age category, reference materials, periodicals, and books on cassette.

If you cannot find the information, the Library staff can help point you in the right direction. Remember, you can also pick up voter registration forms, tax forms, and community fliers and newsletters at the Library. The library’s web address is www.yeadonlibrary.org.

AVAILABLE POSITION

Position Title: Library Assistant

Reports to: Manager of Circulation/ Assistant Director

Classification: Part Time

Job Summary: Assist patrons at the circulation desk and throughout the library. Candidate will serve in a wide range of services, including circulation (checkout and returns), reference/searches, use of and reservations for public internet computers, use of fax and photocopying services. Preserves physical order of collection through shelving and shelf- reading on a regular basis. Candidate will also be required to support youth programs, such as Summer Enrichment programs and Cafe 3, as well as related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma OR GED equivalent AND one (1) year of recent clerical and customer service experience, with this experience in a library being highly preferred. Successful candidates must have child abuse clearance and Pennsylvania criminal background clearance.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

Candidate will be exposed to those conditions normally encountered in a library environment. Physical demands are moderate, consisting primarily of sitting, standing, walking, lifting and carrying moderately heavy boxes of books up to 50 pounds and/or utilizing a hand dolly. Candidate must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood. Candidate must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
