Public Input Wanted at Oct. 8 Council Meeting Regarding Mixed-Use Development Plans

Yeadon Borough is updating its plan for future land use. This will help support community and economic development and provide guidance for the development of the borough.

We need your input to create a vision for the community!

Please join us at the Yeadon Borough Council Caucus Meeting on Thursday, October 8 on the 2nd Floor of Borough Hall starting at 6 PM to learn more and share your ideas.

In particular, Yeadon is interested in mixed-use development and wants to know what kind of uses you want and where you would like to see mixed uses.

Mixed-use development is an area that isn’t just one kind of use. Imagine housing on top of or next to shops, offices, or grocery stores. Everything is mixed together for easy accessibility and walkability.

When it was first developed, Yeadon and other neighboring boroughs had traditional downtowns or shopping corridors that were mixed-use. Over time, the older type of development got replaced by strip malls or car-oriented shops – without a feeling of community.

Encouraging mixed use development again creates more gathering spaces for residents, generates additional tax revenue for the borough, and offers more housing options.
