The Yeadon Borough Recreation Committee presented the inaugural Freedom Day Celebration on Saturday, June 20, combining what was known as the Flag Day Celebration and Juneteenth in one action-packed Freedom Day Celebration. The event featured guest speakers and the Flag raising at the circle on Longacre Boulevard & Cypress Street, starting at 11:00 am. Guests spoke on the Founding of this Nation and highlighted the 250th Anniversary of America.

At dusk, the day ended at the Rap Curry-Kerr Field Athletic Complex with an explosive fireworks show.

In Remembrance: Former Yeadon Mayor Jacqueline B. Mosley, 1934-2026

A Celebration of Life will be held in remembrance of former Yeadon Mayor Jacqueline B. Mosley, who passed away on June 11 at the age of 91.

Additionally, the Borough Flag will be flown at half-staff until June 30th in honor of Mayor Mosley’s passing

Trash Schedule Update

Twice-Weekly Trash Collection Begins After July 4th Weekend

Summer Trash Collection Schedule

Trash pick-up will be two days per week during the summer during July and August, beginning the week of July 6th.

If your trash is normally collected on:

  • Monday: during the summer schedule, it will be collected on Monday and Thursday.
  • Tuesday: during the summer schedule, it will be collected on Tuesday and Friday.
  • Thursday: during the summer schedule, it will be collected on Thursday and Monday.
  • Friday: during the summer schedule, it will be collected on Friday and Tuesday.

No Borough Council Caucus Meetings During Summer Months

There will be no Caucus Meetings for Yeadon Borough Council during the summer months of June, July, and August.
The next Caucus Meeting will take place on September 10, 2026.  Legislative meetings of Borough Council will continue to take place during the summer on the third Thursday of each month.

Get Ready for Yeadon’s Inaugural Freedom Day Celebration! Saturday, June 20th – Events All Day Long

Just One Week Away!

On Saturday, June 20th, Yeadon Borough presents a FREE day-long celebration honoring both Juneteenth and Flag Day. Be a part of it!

We will open with our flag-raising ceremony at the  circle (Cypress and Longacre Boulevard) at 11:00 am. Featuring Ashli Rice and the recitation of what it means to be an American slave by nationally acclaimed actor Darius Wallace as Fredrick Douglass.

At 1:00pm, the party will continue at Yeadon Community Park for our Cultural Celebration and Juneteenth Flag raising with featured guests:

  • MME Entertainment African Dancers
  • ML Magic Association-Puppet reenactment of the story of Juneteenth
  • The Earth Wind and Fire Tribute Band

Along with:

Finally, the day ends at the Rap Curry Athletic Complex – Kerr Field for Fireworks at approximately 8:30 PM

Free admission and all are welcome! Bring chairs and have a good time in Yeadon – Hope to see you there!

  • Darius Wallace, performance – “What to the American Slave, Is The Fourth Of July Speech,” excerpts of speeches relevant to the times in which we live.

  • Juneteenth Flag Raising (1:00 PM)
  • ML Magic Association presents The Journey: Voices in African American History (1:15 PM)
  • Multi-Cultural Drum & Dance Juneteenth Presentation by MME Entertainment (2:00 PM)

Urban Roots Farm to Offer Free Locally-Grown Vegetables to Residents Beginning July 8

Sign Up Today – Limited Availability

Urban Roots Farm of Newtown Square is again partnering with the borough to offer 25 weeks of fresh, local vegetables to Yeadon residents.

Pickup will be available each Wednesday, 4:00 to 6:00 PM, beginning July 8, 2026.
