Mosquito SPraying

Mosquito Spraying in Yeadon Borough on Thursday, August 1

The Delaware County Health Department’s (DCHD) Mosquito-Borne Disease Control Program will conduct an Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) mosquito adulticide spray in sections of Upper Darby Township, Lansdowne Borough, Yeadon Borough and Darby Borough on 8/1/24. Residential and recreational areas within the treatment zone will be treated to control adult mosquitoes. This is a result of high trap counts and the identification of positive mosquito pools containing West Nile Virus in the area.

Treatment will take place during the evening of 8/1/24, starting at approximately 8:00 pm and concluding by 11:00 pm if weather and environmental conditions remain suitable for the operation. In the event of weather or other unexpected delays, a rain date is scheduled for 8/5/24.

In Yeadon Borough, the area to be sprayed is mainly concentrated around Holy Cross Cemetery, as shown in the map below and on page 2 of the press release.

Roadwork Notice

Roadwork to Close Portions of Yeadon Avenue Through July 2024

Beginning June 26, 2024, roadwork on the 600 through 900 blocks of Yeadon Avenue will necessitate portions of the road to be closed. This project is expected to last up to six weeks.

Only portions of the road will be closed at a time, and signs to indicate the specific areas that will be closed will be placed along the block within 48 hours prior to the closure. New notifications will be sent out as the work proceeds down the block.

This closing is necessary for repairs to be made to the street; no vehicles can be parked along either side of the street during the time of closure. Scheduling of road closure is dependent on weather conditions and subject to change.

We appreciate your assistance and apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you.
