Tuesday/Friday
July 4th the Borough is closed.
July 5th Tuesday and Friday’s trash will be picked up and but no recycling.
FREE Steering Wheel Locks for Affected KIA & Hyundai Owners
Yeadon Police Offers Free Steering Wheel Locks
UPDATE: As of June 20, 2023, the Yeadon Police Department has received a new shipment of steering wheel locks for distribution to community members.
The Yeadon Police Department is distributing steering wheel locks free of charge for owners of Kia and Hyundai vehicles with steel-key and turn-to-start ignitions, which have been the target of recent thefts based on their lack of an immobilizer.
All Kia and Hyundai models from 2011 to 2021 are affected; push-to-start models are not impacted.
Kia Motors and Hyundai have worked to deliver steering wheel locks for their affected vehicles to the residence of Yeadon Borough.
How to obtain the free steering wheel lock:
- Visit the Yeadon Police Department at Borough Hall during normal business hours from Monday to Friday 830 to 4:30 PM
- Provide a valid registration for a Kia or Hyundai model from 2011 to 2021.
- The steering wheel locks will be distributed to Yeadon residence.

- Hyundai and Kia have developed theft deterrent software for millions of their vehicles that lack an immobilizer. The companies will provide the software free of charge to vehicle owners.
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) urges owners of these vehicles to contact Hyundai (1.800.633.5151) or Kia (1.800.333.4542) for information.
Some helpful theft prevention reminders from YPD
- If you buy your own steering wheel lock online, purchase it from a reputable vendor.
- Lock your vehicle; take your keys with you.
- Take valuables with you or hide them in a secure area like the trunk.
- Visit Yeadonpd.org and sign up for the Crime Watch app. This app can be utilized to report suspicious behavior anonymously.
- For crimes in progress, call 911.
June 15, 2023: Delaware County Holds Opioid Settlement Funding Town Hall
Delaware County will hold a Town Hall on June 15 to discuss strategies to best utilize funding that the County will receive in amulti-state opioid settlement. The Town Hall will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the Large Auditorium at Delaware County Community College, located at 901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA. Registration is not required.
The County will receive funds as part of a $26 billion multi-state opioid settlement with Johnson & Johnson, AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, and McKesson. Delaware County will receive $63 million in 18 annual payments. The funding will be used to tackle the devastating opioid epidemic affecting Delaware County residents, their loved ones, and the community.
The Town Hall, hosted by Delaware County Council, is being held to engage community members around the opioid settlement funds that the County will receive and gather information about how to best utilize the funds.
It’s critical that Delaware County move quickly to put the new funding into use, because every day is another day that someone struggles with addiction and its devastating impact on their lives, the lives of their loved ones, and the community.
Future Opioid Settlement Town Halls are also being scheduled to be held at locations across the county.

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM APPLICATION
The Yeadon Borough Council has approved the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support a local Community Improvement Program. The program will allow the Borough to provide grants of up to $1,500 for property owners in Yeadon to complete exterior cosmetic or driveway improvements to their properties.
The program aims to fuel community and economic development within the Borough by helping residents beautify their properties in an effort to reduce blight and address minor exterior maintenance issues. All dwellings approved for funding must be owner-occupied and will be subject to exterior inspection and permitting where applicable.
Applications (download PDF) may be submitted in-person at Borough Hall, 600 Church Lane, Yeadon, PA 1905, Monday- Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm or online to the Borough Manager at info@yeadonborough.com, Subject Line: COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM APPLICATION.
Eligible applicants:
- Must own their homes and have resided in the Borough of Yeadon for at least five (5) years.
- Must be in good financial standing with the Borough, School District, and County Tax Offices.
- Can not have any open citations or violations with the Building Code Official’s office.
- Can not have any encumbrance on the property or be under a contract of sale.
- Must provide a copy of the primary resident’s photo ID.
- Must provide proof of ownership and residency via deed or homeowners insurance.
- Provide proof of homeowners insurance.
- Must use a Licensed Contractor through the Attorney General’s Home Improvement Program.
Program Timeline: Award announcements are expected to start in June 2023. Approved property owners will receive funds in two (2) disbursements. Fifty percent of the total approved amount will be rendered in June with the remaining fifty percent to be issued upon work completion and inspection. All work is expected to be completed within sixty (60) days of the first disbursement. Work completed after sixty (60) days will not be covered by the program, and a lien may be attached to your home.
Yeadon Mourns The Passing of Dr. Harris-Edwards
The Flag is currently being flown at half-staff (until June 10) in honor of one of our iconic leaders of the Yeadon Community who recently passed away: Dr. Harris-Edwards.
Apostle Dr. Carolina Harris-Edwards was the chair of the Yeadon Democratic Committee for fourteen years, then Chair of the Yeadon Republican Committee for sixteen years.
Many of our current Democratic Leaders were trained and supported under her leadership. She was also a civil rights activist who trained under the late Hardy Williams and Lucien Blackwell. She was also the founder and leader of the African-Caribbean PAC.
She was also a Yeadonite for over 35 years; a native of Panama, and adopted the United States and chose Yeadon as her home until her passing. Her contributions to our Yeadon Community will always be remembered as she helped Yeadon become the functioning community it is today.
