Public Safety Alert: Vehicle Safety and Package Thefts

Yeadon Borough Chief of Police Henry Giammarco has released the following statement regarding two important safety issues of concern.

VEHICLE SAFETY

As temperatures drop, we want to remind everyone about the potential risks associated with warming up your vehicle. Leaving your car unattended while it’s running can make it an easy target for thieves. Please consider the following tips to keep your vehicle safe:

  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while it’s running.
  • If you must warm up your car, stay inside the vehicle.
  • Consider using a remote starter that allows you to start your vehicle from inside your home.

PACKAGE DELIVERIES

Additionally, we want to address the issue of “porch pirates” during this busy season of deliveries. To protect your packages, please keep these tips in mind:

  • Sign for packages whenever possible.
  • Utilize secure lockers or pickup locations if available.
  • Have packages delivered to a location where someone will be home.
  • Consider installing security cameras or motion-activated lights around your porch.

By taking these precautions, you can help ensure the safety of your vehicle and packages. Stay warm and stay safe!

Respectfully,

Henry Giammarco
Chief of Police
Borough of Yeadon

Police Chief Henry J. Giammarco, Jr.
