Yeadon Public Library Presents Black History Month Presentation on Cathay Williams Feb. 21

Wednesday, February 21 at 6:30 PM

Yeadon Public Library presents:

Dr. Daisy Century portrays Cathay Williams, an African-American soldier who enlisted in the United
States Army under the pseudonym William Cathay. She was the first Black woman to enlist, and the only
documented woman to serve in the United States Army posing as a man during the American Indian Wars.

Cabin in the Sky is a 1943 film based on the 1940 Broadway musical of the same name. The first feature film directed by Vicente Minnelli, Cabin in the Sky features an all-black cast and stars Ethel Waters, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson and Lena Horne.
