April’s Public Safety Committee meeting has been rescheduled to take place this Friday – April 6th at 5pm in the Borough Hall, 3rd Floor Conference Room.

Borough Offices Closed Friday, March 30th
Borough offices will be closed Friday, March 30, 2018 for Good Friday.
Voter Registration
Join the Yeadon NAACP at the Yeadon Public Library – 809 Longacre Blvd, Yeadon – every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, between March 27th and April 12th to register to vote!
The deadline to register for the May 15th Primary Elections is April 16, 2018.

Public Safety Announcement
Due to Wednesday’s impending storm, local public schools will be closed. Borough Hall will also be closed (for normal business as well as for all non-essential personnel).
Residents are advised if possible, to stay off the roads or to curtail travel in the interest of public safety. Snow Crews will be working throughout the storm to plow and salt streets, but an official emergency declaration will not be invoked – meaning cars may park on emergency streets, so long as they do not impede motor vehicle travel. Residents are advised that for emergencies, call 911.

Introducing Junior Councilor Maaya El
The Borough Council is happy to introduce our new Junior Councilor – Maaya El. Maaya is an 11th grader at Penn Wood High School and was nominated by her School Counselor and highly recommended by the school Principal. Maaya is described as a brilliant student with strong leadership skills. We look forward to working with Maaya and exploring all the ideas and suggestions she puts forth.
The Junior Council Person program provides youth in our community an opportunity to get engaged in borough government and develop leadership skills. It allows borough officials to serve as mentors to students who will be future leaders in our community. It also will provide Yeadon Council a perspective that is seldom seen in government – and that is the ideas and thoughts of our youth in our community. Yeadon Borough Council will hold a Legislative Meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 15th in Borough Council Chambers (3rd Floor).

Winter Weather Alert for Wednesday, March 7th
Due to the snow storm today, Yeadon Borough Municipal Offices will be closed. The William Penn School District is also closed today, Wednesday, March 7th.
Residents with emergency or acute needs should call 911. Please report power outages to PECO at 800.841.4141. If you have a public safety event, please contact the Office Emergency Management at (610) 623-2392.

We are currently under a winter weather alert. The most dangerous part of the storm is high winds gusts. Many trees are down & the borough is experiencing some rolling power outages as a result.

Mayor’s Citizens Forum Rescheduled: Tuesday, March 6th
Due to Yeadon Democratic Committee’s Meet and Greet held this Thursday at Borough Hall, the Mayor’s Forum has been rescheduled to next week – Tuesday, March 6th at Borough Hall, 7:00 pm. Topics of discussion will be issues concerning school safety, break-ins, Crime stats and 2018 priorities will be further discussed.
