Help Shape Yeadon’s Future: Take the Mixed-Use Development Survey

The Borough of Yeadon, in partnership with the Delaware County Planning Department, is inviting residents to share their ideas about the future of Yeadon’s commercial areas through a community land use survey.

The Borough is updating the Future Land Use portion of its 2001 Comprehensive Plan to explore opportunities for revitalizing commercial areas, supporting local businesses, and addressing the need for additional housing. Community input will play an important role in shaping these plans. During the October 8, 2026 Borough Council Caucus Meeting, the Delaware County Planning Department joined the meeting for a presentation on the plans.

What Is Mixed-Use Development?

One of the concepts being explored is mixed-use development, which combines residential, commercial, and other uses within the same area or building. Mixed-use development can help create more vibrant, walkable, and economically active commercial areas by:

– Supporting existing businesses and attracting new customers.
– Providing additional housing opportunities.
– Encouraging walkability and neighborhood connections.
– Creating welcoming spaces for shopping, dining, and community activities.
– Making better use of existing properties and commercial corridors.

The goal is to explore ways to strengthen Yeadon’s commercial areas while complementing the Borough’s established residential neighborhoods.
