Delaware County Opens Three New COVID-19 Testing Sites

Delaware County now has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the Southeastern PA region. In response to the surge in cases and the urgent demand for COVID-19 testing, Delaware County Council and the Delaware County COVID-19 Task Force have worked with private partners and the State to open three additional COVID-19 testing sites.

The drive-through sites will provide free PCR COVID-19 testing to hundreds of Delaware County residents each day — helping to address the growing and urgent need for testing to slow the virus’ spread amid the Omicron surge.
Expanded Testing Sites in Delaware County:

Chester City Hall
1 Fourth St., Chester, PA
Thursday, January 6 from 11:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Testing is by appointment only
PCR testing for residents age 5 and older
No health insurance needed but please bring ID
Results provided in 3-5 business days

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital
600 S. Wycombe Ave., Yeadon, PA
Week of Jan. 3: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the public.
Week of Jan.10: Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the public.

Testing is reserved for First Responders, Emergency Management Services personnel, and Healthcare Workers from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. each morning.

No appointment is needed

Delaware County 911 Training Center

Personic Health Care will begin operation of this free COVID-19 drive-through testing site at the Delaware County 911 Training Center on Jan. 7. Hours of operation and requirements will be updated at https://covidtestdelco.com/

The three new testing sites are additions to the County’s permanent testing sites located at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon and the Keystone First Wellness Center in Chester.

Gov. Wolf Announces Free COVID-19 Testing Site at Mercy Fitzgerald Location

Located at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital address:

600 S. Wycombe Avenue,
Yeadon, PA 19050

The testing location is located between St. Bernard’s Hall and Friendship Circle. All participants should enter on Wycombe Avenue.

The week of January 3, testing is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting the week of January 10, testing will take place Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Testing will be reserved for First Responders, Emergency Management Services personnel, and health care workers only from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. each morning.

Delaware County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics – Week of January 3

On select dates during the week of January 3, Delaware County will be offering all three COVID-19 vaccines—Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson—at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon, the Keystone First Wellness Center in Chester, the Centro de Apoyo Comunitario Farmers Market in Upper Darby, and the 69th Street Terminal.

To schedule an appointment, visit the Delaware County website at delcopa.gov/vax or call the Delaware County Wellness Line at (484) 276-2100 or email DelcoWellness@co.delaware.pa.us.

Appointments are strongly recommended at all vaccination clinics—except for 69th Street, which is walk-in only. Walk-ins will be welcome at all other locations, though we ask individuals without an appointment to arrive at a vaccine clinic at least one hour after start time.

1st and 2nd doses, as well as boosters/3rd doses, are available for all individuals.

The Pfizer vaccine is available to individuals 5 years of age and older, with a second dose 21 days after the first dose. Parents or guardians must provide consent for 5 to 17-year-olds and must plan to be present during the vaccination.

All vaccinations are free, and do not require identification or health insurance.

Who can receive a booster?

  • Individuals 18+ who received their 2nd dose of Moderna more than 6 months ago
  • Individuals 16+ who received their 2nd dose of Pfizer more than 6 months ago
  • Individuals 18+ who received the single-doses Johnson & Johnson more than 2 months ago
  • Individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are eligible to receive an additional dose of Moderna or Pfizer 28 days after their 2nd dose.

Homebound Individuals
Delaware County continues to operate its successful Homebound COVID-19 Vaccination Program, providing vaccines and booster shots (and flu shots!) to homebound individuals (plus a family member/caretaker).

To schedule a homebound vaccination (for themselves or a loved one/caretaker) residents should call the COVID-19 Call Center at (484) 276-2100 or email DelcoWellness@co.delaware.pa.us.

CDC

CDC Shortens Recommended Isolation Time for COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has shortened the recommended time for isolation for the public.

People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.
