William Penn School District Seeks Community Input for Superintendent Search

Four Public Focus Groups and Online Survey

The William Penn School District community is invited to take part in a small discussion group, about 90 minutes, to provide input on the ideal qualities for your next superintendent. Participation in the Focus Groups is a key part of this process and will provide the community an opportunity to learn more about the search process and to contribute to the development of a leadership profile for the next superintendent by identifying ideal characteristics and discussing the needs of the district.

Survey

All WPSD community members are invited to take the Superintendent Leadership Qualities Survey (available in multiple languages) to give your input about the leadership qualities desired in your next superintendent. Your participation is needed and appreciated. Hard copies are also available at at any district building, including the administrative offices. Please complete surveys by October 4, 2019.

Cobbs Creek Parkway Project

West Cobbs Creek Parkway Project Groundbreaking Sept. 27

On July 31, 2019, Yeadon Borough closed on the PENNVEST loan for the West Cobbs Creek project. This project will result in sanitary sewer system improvements as well as West Cobbs Creek Parkway

Yeadon Borough Mayor Rohan Hepkins announces that Yeadon will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony at the intersection of Chester Avenue and West Cobbs Creek Parkway (across from the Route 13 trolley stop). The Mayor, Council, and residents invite everyone to come out and join us for this event. The press is invited to stop by and see the beginning of the improvements.

PECO Customers Reminded to Plan Ahead During National Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month comes as the first major hurricane of the season made landfall in the U.S. this week, and the peak of Atlantic hurricane season is quickly approaching. The current weather patterns serve as a timely reminder for customers to be prepared for severe weather and other emergencies.

“The safety of our customers, communities, and employees is always our top priority,” said John McDonald, PECO senior vice president and COO. “We work throughout the year to ensure our employees and systems are ready for any extreme weather that may occur. Hurricane Dorian is a timely reminder for all of us that being prepared is a responsibility everyone should take seriously.”

To help customers plan and prepare for an emergency, PECO offers the following tips:

  • Stay far away from any storm damaged electrical equipment, especially downed wires. You should always assume downed wires are energized. Report a downed wire immediately by calling PECO at 1-800-841-4141.
  • Keep a flashlight with fresh batteries on each floor of your home.
  • Identify an alternate location for you and/or your family in case of an extended outage.
  • Customers who rely on electricity to keep medicine refrigerated or medical equipment running should develop a plan to maintain health requirements during a power outage.
  • Review the manufacturer’s instructions for safe operation of your generator. Do not connect a generator directly to your home’s wiring. Never use a generator indoors or in any enclosed area.
  • Follow the advice of local emergency management officials.
