COVID Testing

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Continues at Mercy Fitzgerald Week of Feb. 1

Delaware County will continue conducting public drive-thru COVID-19 testing the week of February 1, 2021 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.

Testing will be available for insured and uninsured individuals 12 years of age or older who live or work in Delaware County and have COVID-19 symptoms, were exposed to COVID-19, or are considered critical/essential workers.

Individuals must pre-register at www.delcopa.gov/testing to receive a test.

If you have health insurance, please bring your insurance card to the test site. However, there are no out-of-pocket costs or co-pays for COVID-19 testing. Masks or face coverings must be worn.

County Vaccination

Delaware County Vaccination Update – January 28

Delaware County is administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon and at the Aston Community Center. Vaccination is by appointment only.

People who live or work in Delaware County can pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine by completing a form found on the Chester County Health Department’s COVID-19 website. Vaccines are free of charge and for people age 16 and older who live or work in Delaware County. The form can be found here: https://chesco.seamlessdocs.com/f/delcovac

Completion of the form registers a person’s interest in receiving the vaccine, and the information provided helps the Chester County Health Department to place each individual into the Phase 1A, 1B, 1C, and Phase 2 categories.

All individuals 65 and older, and individuals ages 16-64 with certain medical conditions, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus, are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination under Phase 1A. Delaware County has opened a COVID-19 Call Center to answer COVID-19 related questions including information on vaccines and testing. The COVID-19 Call Center will be open Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. In addition to responding to phone calls, the Center will also respond to emails.

Wellness Center Opens

Delaware County Council Officially Opens the Delaware County Wellness Center

The Delaware County Wellness Center officially opened on January 27, 2021. The Delaware County Council were joined with Yeadon Borough officials, and other elected leaders and staff. Located at 125 Chester Avenue, the Delaware County Wellness Center will now serve as a vaccine storage site, a vaccination site, and a COVID-19 testing site for Delaware County. Furthermore, the Wellness Center will begin to transition into a clinical space for the future Delaware County Health Department.

Villanova ReachOut

Villanova ReachOut Program Offers Connections for Senior Citizens

Villanova University providing ReachOut – a program for seniors to reduce isolation called through connections with student volunteers.

The main goal is to help decrease the feeling of social isolation among seniors. Volunteers, mainly nursing majors, contact an older adult partner approximately once weekly for 20-30 minutes to engage in social discussion. No medical advice is provided. Calls continue weekly or at a mutually agreed upon frequency between the older adult and student. Currently ReachOut receives referrals from self-referrals, primary care practices, insurance companies, and senior centers.

COSA program

Free Online Program for Seniors: Chronic Disease Self-Management

The Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging (COSA) is sponsoring the acclaimed, evidence-based Steps to Healthy Living: Chronic Disease Self-Management Program developed at Stanford University to provide participants with self-care tools and life skills to support them in reaching their personal goals to manage their chronic conditions.

The program will meet online once a week for six weeks on Tuesdays beginning February 3 through March 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Don’t miss out. The program is offered FREE and includes your personal copy of the book Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, through support from COSA and the PA Department of Aging. Space is limited and registration is required.

Delaware County COVID-19 Call Center Now Open

Call 484-276-2100 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday for assistance with COVID-19 related questions including vaccines and testing. Email: covid19resources@co.delaware.pa.us

Delaware County opened a COVID-19 Call Center on Monday, Jan. 25, to answer COVID-19 related questions from individuals, organizations, and businesses. In addition to responding to phone calls, the Center will also respond to emailed inquiries.

While the Call Center staff will attempt to answer all COVID-19-related questions, the immediate mission will be to address questions related to the County’s updated COVID-19 vaccination plans and to provide assistance to individuals interesting in receiving a vaccination or test. The Call Center staff’s focus will be:

  • Working with residents to determine their vaccination phase
  • Assisting Phase 1A residents who have been unable to complete the Phase 1A Vaccine Interest Survey using the online registration
  • Helping residents locate convenient COVID-19 testing sites and, if needed, help them register to receive a test through a county-sponsored testing site
  • Answering general questions about COVID-19 testing and vaccinations
  • General questions about COVID-19 (quarantine guidelines, masks, restaurant seating capacity limits, etc.) should be directed to the Chester County Health Department at (610) 344-6225, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
