Delaware County will continue conducting public drive-thru COVID-19 testing the week of March 8, 2021 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby.

Testing will be available for insured and uninsured individuals 12 years of age or older who live or work in Delaware County and have COVID-19 symptoms, were exposed to COVID-19, or are considered critical/essential workers.

Individuals must pre-register at www.delcopa.gov/testing to receive a test.

COVID-19 test results typically take between 3-5 days. Additional testing information, including details regarding how to obtain faster results and the locations of additional public and private COVID-19 test sites, can be found on the link listed above.

There are no out-of-pocket costs or co-pays for COVID-19 testing; however, individuals with health insurance are asked to please bring their insurance card to the test site. Masks or face coverings must be worn. The Chester County Health Department Disease Investigation team may call those individuals who have a positive test result to complete an investigation.

County commissioners, county council members and state legislators representing Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties met for an hour Sunday, March 7 with Pennsylvania Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam and other Wolf Administration officials regarding the state’s allocation of COVID-19 vaccine to the four Southeast Pennsylvania counties.

The meeting, long sought by elected officials, was arranged after The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Feb. 27 that our four suburban counties have received far lower state allocations of vaccine than their substantial populations merit.

All four counties consistently have received from the Pennsylvania Department of Health far smaller amounts of vaccine than requested, while less-populated counties elsewhere in the state have received disproportionately large amounts of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine.

Smaller-than-expected allocations in our area have led to long waiting lists and cancellation of second-dose appointments that had been scheduled for weeks, creating understandable frustration and anger among our constituents. Sunday’s discussion, conducted via Zoom, came after repeated requests from county officials and state legislators for a meeting to explain and remedy these evident inequalities.

Delaware County Government to open fifth COVID-19 vaccination site

Delaware County Government will be adding a fifth County-operated vaccination site. The County, in partnership with Crozer Health, will begin COVID-19 vaccinations at Springfield Hospital on Thursday, March 11. The clinic will be operational Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only.

The County, in partnership with Keystone First, and in collaboration with the City of Chester, opened the Keystone First Wellness Center in Chester on Feb. 25. And the County, in partnership with Penn Medicine, began administering the Pfizer vaccine on Feb. 26 at Penn Medicine in Radnor. The Delaware County Wellness Center in Yeadon and the Aston Community Center opened in January.

People interested in receiving a vaccine through Delaware County Government can fill out the pre-registration form online.

An Update on Vaccine Supply:

The County received 2,900 Moderna vaccines and 1,170 Pfizer vaccines for this week, and expects to receive 1,700 Moderna vaccines, 2,300 Pfizer vaccines for Radnor, and 1,170 Pfizer vaccines for Springfield for next week.

As of March 5, Delaware County Government has requested a total of 31,710 vaccines and received a total of 15,510 vaccines.
