Yeadon Public Library’s Arts & Crafts/ Meals Summer Program

Summer is here and the Yeadon Public Library is here to serve our community!

Monday through Friday, June 17th–July 26th, from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM daily.

There will be loads of fun in our Arts & Crafts Program! Let your creativity shine!

Meals will be served daily @ 12 Noon.

Space is limited. To register, please find the date you wish to sign up for on the Yeadon Public Library calendar.

 

Library Scavenger Hunt

Take Part in Delaware County Libraries’ Summer 2024 Scavenger Hunt

Journey Across Delco 2024 is Delaware County Libraries’ 2024 Scavenger Hunt that encourages residents to visit as many of our 28 spectacular Delco libraries as you can from June 19th – August 7th. 

Grab a game sheet, fill in the name of the library displaying the numbered pictogram on your sheet. Have fun learning about each sport. Choose a brag tag and complete the library scavenger hunt for more fun! At the end of the summer, turn in your game sheet to earn a special brag tag for visiting libraries.

Yeadon Public Library Seeks Library Director

Yeadon Public Library Director Posting

The Board of Trustees of the Yeadon Public Library seeks a dynamic community minded
Library Director for our very active library located in a diverse community in Delaware
County, PA.

The Director reports to the Board of Trustees and works effectively with the Borough
Manager to oversee the safe and efficient operation of the library facility. The Director
maintains relationships and provides necessary reports and information to Delaware County
Libraries, and to the Board and staff of Yeadon Public Library.

The Director will possess a master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
institution. The Director will have PA State Library Certification or eligibility to acquire same within 6 months, and a minimum of 2 years of supervisory and administrative experience in a public library or commensurate experience that demonstrates ability to
address the features of this position including:

  • High level of managerial and organizational skills along with the capacity to
    coordinate staff development, to work effectively with experienced, long-term staff,
    and to hire new staff as needed.
  • Ability to exercise considerable professional skill, initiative, and independent
    judgment.
  • Innovative thinking and knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Competence to develop, implement, market, and evaluate a multitude of programs
    and services addressing all age levels within a diverse community; and to manage
    collection development through timely materials selection and weeding.
  • Proven capacity to work with various borough stakeholders (e.g., Library Board,
    Delaware County Libraries, Friends of Yeadon Public Library, William Penn School
    District, local, county and state governments).
  • Commitment and ability to engage in community outreach and partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of library financial systems and reporting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication.
  • Strong grant research and writing skills.
  • Ability to assess the adequacy of existing and long-range plans for library
    building expansion and development.
  • Planning and community needs assessment skills.

This position is full time based on 40 hours per week. Competitive health benefits and

Road Closure

Road Closures for Flag Day Celebration – Saturday, June 15th

Road Closures for Flag Day events on Longacre Boulevard:

Longacre Boulevard from Church Lane to Fern Street will be closed from 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2024, please move your vehicles off the street by 8 AM.

Cypress Street
from Whitby Avenue to Baily Road will be closed from 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2024.

Closures for the Flag Day Parade:

Church Lane from Chester Avenue to MacDade Boulevard will be closed at approximately 9 AM for parade set up.

From approximately 9:45 AM to 11 AM, Church Lane from Chester Avenue to Longacre Boulevard will be closed to traffic for the parade.

Financial Notice

Important Financial Update Regarding the Borough of Yeadon’s Municipal Accounts

As you may be aware, Republic Bank, holder of the borough’s municipal accounts, has been closed by the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities. As a result, Fulton Bank has entered into a purchase and assumption agreement to assume all deposits, certain liabilities, and essentially all of the assets of Republic Bank, including the borough’s municipal accounts.

This transition has been managed carefully to ensure the security of your tax dollars. Fulton Bank is a Member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), an independent agency of the federal government that insures depositors’ accounts. We wanted to share this information with our residents to the safety of our deposits, ensuring that your tax dollars remain secure.
