Electronic Waste Collection – Saturday, July 18 at Yeadon Public Works
On Saturday, July 18, 2020, Yeadon hosts an Electronic Waste Collection event at the Public Works garage, 1115 Baily Road.
B&L Disposal will have a dumpster set up outside the Public Works Yard and employees will be on hand to assist residents with unloading cars.
Electrical and electronic devices such as, TV’s, computer monitors, clocks, radios, etc. may be dropped off for collection from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Public Works Garage located at 1115 Baily Road.
Large appliances will not be accepted.
Delaware County Announces COVID-19 Public Testing Site in Darby
Drive-thru and walk-up testing available for Delaware County residents July 14, 15 and 16 in Darby.
Residents over the age of 18 will be eligible to be tested, especially those at higher risk including residents over the age of 65 and those with pre-existing health conditions. Critical and essential workforce are considered a priority for getting testing. These individuals include first responders, healthcare system employees, grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential workers.
Testing will be conducted by trained medical staff utilizing a nasal swab (PCR) test kit. Testing is free of charge for residents. Those with private or public health insurance will be asked to provide their insurance card. Upon arrival, patients will need to complete a registration form and a consent form. Test results will take up to 5-7 business days. Residents will receive their results by mail. Residents who test positive will also receive a call from the Chester County Health Department.
Residents are asked to wear a mask/face covering.

Six-Week ‘Walk With Ease’ Program for Seniors Begins July 27
Self-Directed Program with On-line and Email Support
The Arthritis Foundation’s program for people 60 and over proven to reduce the pain of arthritis and improve your overall health. No matter if you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active, the Arthritis Foundation’s 6-week Walk With Ease program can teach you how to safely make physical activity part of your everyday life.
Use the Walk With Ease workbook provided to do the program – beginning where you are and walking 3 times a week on your own with assistance from your leader. Be inspired and share at weekly on-line group meetings held on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. beginning on July 27th.

COVID-19 Testing at Mercy Fitzgerald Campus July 9 and 11 (canceled Fri. 7/10)
UPDATED 7/9: Testing on Friday, July 10 has been canceled due to anticipated weather concerns.
Open to all individuals, 18 and older, who live or work in Delaware County.

Unemployment Questions? Dep’t of Labor Hosts Virtual Town Hall Thursday
Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) is hosting its seventh live virtual town hall from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM this Thursday, July 9, 2020, to share information about regular unemployment compensation (UC) and other new COVID-19-related benefits programs and give Pennsylvanians the opportunity to ask questions directly of UC experts.

Flash Flood Warning: Monday July 6
National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning. Flash flooding conditions are imminent. For more info: www.weather.gov/phi/

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams…urban areas…highways…streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately. Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

County Provides Update on Countywide Reassessment Project
Formal reassessment notices being mailed to property owners
In early 2017, Delaware County was ordered by the Court to conduct and implement a Countywide Reassessment of all properties in the County to be effective January 1, 2021. In November of 2017, the County contracted with Tyler Technologies to perform valuation services in conjunction with the Countywide Reassessment. County staff and Tyler Technologies have worked diligently to ensure that the Reassessment Project would be completed in accordance with the Court’s timeline.
The new assessments have been finalized and the County mailed formal reassessment notices to all property owners on July 1, 2020.
Delaware County Council asked the Court to establish an extended deadline of September 1, 2020 for all appeals from the Countywide Reassessment notices due to the concern that residents could inadvertently miss an earlier deadline. The Court has granted the request. All appeals from the Countywide Reassessment notices must be received or postmarked by September 1, 2020.

There is no processing fee for filing a Countywide Reassessment appeal.

Appeal forms may also be requested by mail or made available for pick up from the Assessment Office by calling (610) 891-5695.
Appeals must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Delaware County Board of Assessment Appeals, located at 201 West Front Street, Media, PA 19063. All appeals must contain an original signature. Faxed and/or electronic filings will not be accepted. All appeals are subject to the Board’s Rules and Regulations. Property owners are strongly encouraged to read the Board’s Rules and Regulations prior to filing an appeal as they answer most of the frequently asked questions regarding the appeal process.

Property owners can also request a copy by calling the Assessment Office: (610) 891-5695.
Once the Assessment Office receives an appeal, they will schedule a hearing. A notice of the hearing including a date and time will be mailed to the property owner at least 20 days prior to the hearing. Property owners may also send an email to request an electronic copy of the hearing notice. Email requests can be sent to: DelcoAssessmentHearings@co.delaware.pa.us
Hearings will be held in person with restrictions as required and recommended by public health officials. The Board is also planning to hold online virtual hearings and telephone hearings. Residents will be asked on the appeal form if they would prefer a virtual or telephone hearing. If no option is selected, an in-person hearing will be scheduled. Property owners will be advised about the safety precautions and guidelines for in-person hearings, including being screened before entering the building and wearing a mask.
Fuel Service Temporarily Unavailable at Yeadon Lukoil
Please be advised that the Lukoil across from Borough Hall is replacing their pumps. As a result, fuel use will be unavailable until approximately next Friday, July 10th.
Please plan accordingly in your travels and remember to wear your mask!
