Delaware County Offering COVID-19 Testing in Yeadon July 21, 22, and 23

Delaware County will be offering drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing for residents on July 21, 22 and 23 in Yeadon.

Residents over the age of 18 will be eligible to be tested, especially those at higher risk including residents over the age of 65 and those with pre-existing health conditions. Critical and essential workforce are considered a priority for getting testing. These individuals include first responders, healthcare system employees, grocery stores, pharmacies and other essential workers.

Testing will be conducted by trained medical staff utilizing a nasal swab (PCR) test kit. Testing is free of charge for residents without health insurance. There is no out of pocket fee or co-pay for residents with private or public health insurance. Please bring your insurance card to the testing site. Upon arrival, patients will need to complete a registration form and a consent form. Test results will take up to 5-7 business days. Residents will receive their results by mail. Residents who test positive will also receive a call from the Chester County Health Department.

Residents are asked to wear a mask/face covering.

Spotted Lanternfly Virtual Town Hall – Wednesday, July 15

The Spotted Lanternfly Virtual Town Hall live webinar, led by Penn State Extension Master Gardener Sam Barnett, will catch us up on the most recent research and teach us what we can do in our own yards to combat the Spotted Lanternfly. State Representative Jennifer O’Mara is partnering with the Master Gardeners of Delaware County to help residents learn what works and what doesn’t.

Electronic Waste Collection

Electronic Waste Collection – Saturday, July 18 at Yeadon Public Works

On Saturday, July 18, 2020, Yeadon hosts an Electronic Waste Collection event at the Public Works garage, 1115 Baily Road.

B&L Disposal will have a dumpster set up outside the Public Works Yard and employees will be on hand to assist residents with unloading cars.

Electrical and electronic devices such as, TV’s, computer monitors, clocks, radios, etc. may be dropped off for collection from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Public Works Garage located at 1115 Baily Road.

Large appliances will not be accepted.

Six-Week ‘Walk With Ease’ Program for Seniors Begins July 27

Self-Directed Program with On-line and Email Support

The Arthritis Foundation’s program for people 60 and over proven to reduce the pain of arthritis and improve your overall health. No matter if you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active, the Arthritis Foundation’s 6-week Walk With Ease program can teach you how to safely make physical activity part of your everyday life.

Use the Walk With Ease workbook provided to do the program – beginning where you are and walking 3 times a week on your own with assistance from your leader. Be inspired and share at weekly on-line group meetings held on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. beginning on July 27th.

Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) is hosting its seventh live virtual town hall from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM this Thursday, July 9, 2020, to share information about regular unemployment compensation (UC) and other new COVID-19-related benefits programs and give Pennsylvanians the opportunity to ask questions directly of UC experts.
