Bike Delco Survey

Take the Eastern Delaware County Biking Survey

Yeadon residents are invited to participate in a brief survey focused on bicycling in Eastern Delaware County. Your feedback will be used to help understand local bicycling needs and identify necessary improvements to encourage people of all ages and abilities to hop on a bike!

Please submit your email at the end of the survey to receive project updates. To request a hard copy of the survey please call or text Project Manager Dave Schwartz at (484) 431-0902.

This survey is being conducted as part of the Eastern Delaware County Bikeway Prioritization Study. The purpose of this Study is to identify regional bicycle connections through Upper Darby, Lansdowne, East Lansdowne, and Yeadon. Your feedback is vital in helping the project team identify important destinations in the region, priority bicycle routes, and necessary bicycle infrastructure improvements to increase safety and encourage cycling for all — from commuters to families.

PECO to Perform Tree Trimming in Yeadon Neighborhoods This Summer

PecoPECO’s Vegetation Management department has scheduled tree pruning in the Yeadon area to prevent electric service issues caused by broken tree limbs, fallen trees and other vegetation.

This work will begin in July/August and will be completed in September.

PECO’s tree service contractor – specially trained for utility work – will prune to promote tree growth away from power lines and equipment.

Work will take place in the areas indicated on the map below. Residents affected in these areas will also receive a letter from PECO with additional details.

Virtual Public Meeting on Bicycling in Eastern Delaware County on Tuesday, May 25th

The goal of this project is to identify regional bicycle connections through Upper Darby, Lansdowne, East Lansdowne, and Yeadon. Bicycle facilities help to promote public health and create non-motorized connections between people and trails, parks, schools, transit sites, and other key areas. Yeadon Ave Traffic

Yeadon Avenue Traffic and Parking Restrictions Week of May 24th

During the week of May 24 – May 28, traffic and parking on Yeadon Avenue between Baily Road and Cedar Avenue will be restricted during daytime hours (8 AM – 5 PM) as sanitary sewer trench restoration is conducted.

Please ensure vehicles are removed from Yeadon Avenue before 8 AM each morning.

Driveway access may be restricted at various times throughout the day; it is encouraged that alternate parking locations be used.

Detour Union Avenue

Union Avenue Detour Begins May 14 for SEPTA Crossing Upgrade

Work will continue around-the-clock through Monday, May 17

Beginning Friday, May 14, 2021 at 9:00 AM, Union Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic at the intersection of the SEPTA Railroad tracks.

SEPTA’s in-house forces will be renewing the existing grade crossing. The new crossing will create a much smoother ride for motorists.

The following detour will be in effect 24/7 until the work is complete. All traffic lanes will open on or before Monday, May 17, 2021 at 6:00 PM.

  • Union Avenue northbound traffic will be detoured at Union Avenue onto Fairview Avenue; west on Fairview Avenue to Lansdowne Avenue; north on Lansdowne Avenue to Baltimore Avenue; east on Baltimore Avenue to end at Union Avenue.
  • Westbound Baltimore Avenue to southbound Union Avenue traffic will be detoured at Baltimore Avenue; west on Baltimore Avenue to Lansdowne Avenue; south on Lansdowne Avenue to Fairview Avenue; east on Fairview Avenue to end at Union Avenue.
  • Eastbound Baltimore Avenue to southbound Union Avenue traffic will be detoured at Lansdowne Avenue; south on Lansdowne Avenue to Fairview Avenue; east on Fairview Avenue to end at Union Avenue.

Yeadon Avenue Closed Between Redwood Avenue and Baily Road for Sewer Work

Beginning Monday, November 9th, Yeadon Avenue will be closed between Redwood Avenue and Baily Road to continue sanitary sewer repairs. All traffic southbound Yeadon Avenue will be detoured east on Gunther Avenue to Church Lane and all other roads northbound Yeadon Avenue. Westbound Cedar Avenue and Redwood Avenue will be closed to all traffic during the day. Yeadon Avenue between Redwood and Baily Road will be closed until project has been completed.

Baily Road Work

Baily Road Restoration to Impact Traffic, Parking on 9/30-10/1

Please be advised that Charlestown Paving & Excavating, Inc. will be performing street restoration on Baily Road (from Church Lane & Baily Road to Kerr Field) starting Wednesday, September 30, 2020 through Thursday, October 1, 2020 (weather permitting).

The work will be performed between the hours of 7:30 am. to 4:30 pm. This is the final stages of the Aqua PA Water Main Replacement Project. Also, parking is temporarily prohibited during the hours indicated and “No Parking” notices are posted.

Detour on Church Road Due to Emergency Sanitary Sewer Work

Please be advised the 400 block of Church Lane (between Penn Street and Myra Avenue) will be closed September 18, 2020 until further notice. A. Gargiule & Sons will be conducting emergency sanitary sewer repairs at this location between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please follow the detour plan which shows northbound traffic using Penn Street and Bonsall Avenue and southbound traffic using Myra and Orchard Avenues.
