Aggressive Driving Initiative

Yeadon Police Department to Participate in Aggressive-Driving Enforcement Initiative

The Yeadon Police Department is among 64 departments from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties who will join Pennsylvania State Police in conducting aggressive-driving enforcement activities to help reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and deaths on roadways as part of a statewide mobilization that runs through August 25, 2019.

As part of the Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project, the third wave will focus on running red lights, the Steer Clear law, tailgating, and heavy trucks. Motorists exhibiting other unsafe behaviors such as distracted driving, speeding, and failing to stop at stop signs will also be cited.

According to 2017 PennDOT data, there were 1,482 aggressive-driving related crashes and 17 fatalities in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.

Municipal police agencies that participated in last year’s campaign wrote 50,707 aggressive-driving related citations statewide, including 30,197 for speeding. Failing to stop for red lights and stop signs resulted in 3,657 citations.

Additionally, the enforcement accounted for 68 felony arrests, 142 fugitives apprehended, 200 impaired driving arrests, and 1,259 occupant protection citations.

The aggressive-driving enforcement is a part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Operation House Call: A Message from the Chief of Police

Hey Yeadon Residents! Who remembers back in the day when you could call the doctor and he/she came to your home and made you feel better?

Well, I’m not a doctor, but I have an idea. I call it Operation House Call. Here’s what I’m thinking. Too often the only time people have contact with police it’s negative; because they are in trouble, are having a problem that they need our intervention with to help, or they may be a victim of a crime or accident.

So here’s what I’m offering you – the residents of this town that I call home too: Instead of coffee with a cop where you have to come to me, how about I make a house-call to you when you want to voice a concern, get to meet me or say hello, have a question about police, or even think you might want to do a ride-a-long with me?

I am frequently on patrol, so why not give you access to your department that you might not be used to. So if you just want to talk, have a question, have a concern, are interested in a ride-a-long, anything, I want you to have a positive experience with us.

On those days that I am available, because I do take off every now and then (LOL), I will post that Operation House Call is in effect. Once you see that post, send me a private message with your address or phone, a good time to stop by, and I will respond back as soon as I get it, and stop by to meet you! Let’s do something positive together, because I truly believe that together we can do great and positive things.

What do you think Yeadonites, are you ready for a House Call?

Cam Saw It

Own a Surveillance Camera? Register with the Police Department’s Cam Saw It! Program

Today, no matter where you go, what you do, at some point your activity is caught on camera. This video can at times provide law enforcement with crucial evidence, or help identify a potential suspect in a crime. Whether you own cameras for a business or residence, your voluntary participation with crime fighting can help make a difference when you provide video surveillance to law enforcement for investigative purposes. Yeadon’s Cam Saw It! (CSI) program is one more partnership with our community to help deter and solve crime. The CSI program is voluntary and your registration does not authorize Yeadon Police or any other law enforcement agency to enter your home or access your camera system without your expressed permission or knowledge.

To register your camera with the Yeadon Police Department’s Cam Saw It! Program, please download the complete application and terms and return when completed to Borough Hall or the Police Department.
