PA $225M Main Street Small Business Grant Program

The Pennsylvania $225M Main Street Small Business Grant program announced earlier this week includes:

  • $100 million for the Main Street Business Revitalization Program for small businesses that experienced loss as a result of the governor’s March 19, 2020 order relating to the closure of all non-life-sustaining businesses and have or will incur costs to adapt to new business operations related to COVID-19;
  • $100 million for the Historically Disadvantaged Business Revitalization Program for small businesses that experienced loss as a result of the business closure order, have or will incur costs to adapt to new business operations related to COVID-19, and in which socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least a 51 percent interest and also control management and daily business operations.
  • $25 million for the Loan Payment Deferment and Loss Reserve Program, which will allow the CDFIs the opportunity to offer forbearance and payment relief for existing portfolio businesses that are struggling due to the impact of COVID, as well as shore up the financial position of the CDFIs that are experiencing significant increased defaults in their existing loan portfolios.

Eligible businesses with 25 or fewer employees may receive a maximum grant of $50,000 so long as the business was in operation on February 15, 2020 and, if required, paid income taxes to the state and federal government, as reported on individual or business tax returns; COVID-19 has had an adverse economic impact and makes this grant request necessary to support the ongoing operations of the applicant; the grant will be used cover COVID-19 related costs; and during the period beginning on June 1, 2020 and ending on December 31, 2020, the applicant has not and will not receive another grant under this state program.

*Note, the application, and timing for accepting applications is not available yet, but many of these CDFIs have email list sign-ups to receive updates.

Applications from Delaware County HQ’d companies will be accepted by the following CDFIs:
Entrepreneur Works
Neighborhood Progress Fund
The Enterprise Center
West Philadelphia Financial Services Institute
Beech Companies
Reinvestment Fund
Community First Fund
Women’s Opportunity Resource Center
United Bank

PPE Supply Kits

Additional COVID-19 PPE Supply Kits for Businesses Available

The Bringing Back Delco Task Force is offering a second round of PPE purchases and distributions to the Delaware County business community.

As the County prepared to enter the Yellow Phase on June 5, the Task Force offered an online small business support store to help businesses procure the supplies they needed to reopen safely, many of which are in short supply. Items included: hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, gloves, masks, six-foot floor markers, and Plexiglas barriers for counters.

Due to the high demand, two additional distributions have been set up. Business owners can order these items online at a discounted price and pick up the kits on either June 22 or 23 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Broomall Fire Department (1 N. Malin Rd., Broomall, PA)

Bringing Back Delco PPE Kits are $10 and include:
– Hand Sanitizer
– 150 Wipes
– 300 Gloves
– 100 Masks
– Hand Sanitizer
– Social Distancing Floor Signage

Orders can be placed online at BringingBackDelco.com

The Bringing Back Delco Task Force, formed by Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Commerce Center, and the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce was created in May to support the Delaware County business community to ensure a safe reopening of the local economy.

In addition to PPE, the Task Force has offered webinars to assist business owners with safety guidelines, reopening protocols and plans, and industry-specific information. The website also includes downloadable flyers and graphics for business owners to display and share with their employees.

A helpline has also been set up for business owners and managers who have questions and need help navigating the CDC and state guidelines and who may need support interpreting the guidance. Businesses can call: 610-565-3677.

The Task Force will regularly convene to address the concerns of the community, coordinate, and share best practices that are proven to be successful and distribute information that is needed for an effective and safe transition.
